BG181724341 From your description I could imagine your batt port is connected to the BEC (~5V) or your throttle ESC. It needs to be connected to the Lipo directly.

Q: does this have reverse or brake?

Domi7 1) bi-directional= forward and reverse. 2) Brake - Yes, and I like the amount of brake. I have other ESCs with a too strong brake for example, but this one is just nice for my liking.
