TheCric the CDS port is for switch modes Night vision or Normal, see other comments for info
TheCric To take still images the take off button has to be pressed for about 3 seconds. For video the right hand stick needs to be pressed for about the same 3 seconds.
TheCric A good memory card is mandatory BUT I don't for your version but for mine, the manual is false: taking photos is done by long press on the right ear button (yes the same button you need to land) and taking videos is done by long press vertically on the right stick ( the same action that you use to do flip but with a long press, and the same to stop the video) . Also a vertical long press on left stick cut the motors and acts as a panic button)

TheCric I have done some measurements by GPS on a road and when you put both antennas vertically you can have control up to 95 meters with the standard radio. But you can also use a Jumper radio or Walkera with Deviation protocol Syma X ( DO NOT PUT the option X5-C) and you can have a real longer range . So long I haven't done measurements, By the way I have on it my own FPV system...
