Boatbeard Not with a propeller, but yes if trying to measure the RPM of a solid shaft or flywheel.

Boatbeard Youare never going to get 30W of output from four AA batteries... If lucky you will get 10W of actual light output. For the price that is still very acceptable.
Boatbeard Thatwould be quite normal - the specifications give nominal capacity of 5250 mAh at .2 C discharge. That means if discharged at 20% of 5250 mA (525 mA x 2 = 1050 mA) it should give at least the rated capacity. Discharging at the highest possible current will rarely give even half of the .2 C rating...
Q: is this liion with DC-DC converter to 1.5V? or is it something else?

Boatbeard These are NiMH batteries that when charged correctly have no memory effect. They are not 1.5v, that is incorrect - they are 1.2v nominal same as all other NiMH cells. There is no LiPo or converter in these standard cells.
