Kworsfold Do you understand the meaning of microsteps. These Switches set the microstep level. So depending on the Switch settings depends on the microstep. Look up stepper microstep if you don't understand it. E, D, S are Motor Enable, Direction and Step. Power requirements are 5V for Logic and Vss for Motor power. Hope this helps. If you are still struggling to understand look up how Stepper Motors work.

Kworsfold From what I am reading (yet to be proven) but leaving these three microstep selection pins (MS1, MS2 and MS3) disconnected results in full-step mode pulling low (as per the track on the PCB) would result in Single step. As for Direction and Enable these are ACTIVE LOW.......... i.e. LOW to Enable and not reversed (reversed motor could be wiring or mechanical issues)
