ruthart It has a boot loader. If you write a program in the Arduino IDE or PlatformIO you can upload it through the USB port.

ruthart Backlash is undetectable. But keep in mind that there is a 64 times speed reduction gear inside so it is quite slow.

ruthart Any nema 17 stepper will work. You don't need high torque.

ruthart The thread is 0.5 inch pipe thread (od 20mm 14 threads per inch). the id is 12 - 13mm.The best fit is probably 0.5 inch hose.

ruthart It generates a signal which can be used by your main board if so equipped. It would stop the print, record the position and sound the alarm. You may have to modify the firmware for this to work.
