Q: please is this item ok for use in the UK? (uk)

Mubeen Amjad yes it will work in UK..it works on 220volts as manufactured. but can work on 110 at low efficiency. a quick tip any 220volt item that you want to use on 110volts use bigger ampere circuit breaker. like 20amps CB
