USB powered ! Metal construction with some plastic parts. I use the loupe at the history museum where I work both to repair mechanical watches, to inspect coins and bills AND as a desk lamp ! It has 3 types of light : yellow, combined and white. Magnification factor is around 2X I think. Very good product overall!
