This pump uses an internally driven brushless motor to drive the impeller. The motor / electronics side of the case is encapsulated in a flexible epoxy type compound. The electronics appear to regulate the motor speed dependent upon load etc so the drive circuit is a little bit smart. In my experimentation my pump stopped working after 5 minutes and I thought this to be a honeymoon period fault. It turned out that the solar system had charged the 24V batteries to just over 27V and these pumps cut out at 27V. Something to note if you intend to run a pump on a lead acid battery system that will be charged to at least 28V. The pump moves a lot of water at reasonable pressure, more than the smaller pumps that I currently have, sorry I didn't take any pressure, flow, current, readings. The pump is sturdy and well made and looks like it should go the distance.
