While I've been wanting to try a TS-100 soldering iron I can't really afford one so instead I ordered this affordable little 8 watt portable soldering iron. Not expecting much for such a cheap price all I can say is Wow! This thing is great. My first portable soldering iron was an ISO-Tip made here in the United States that I purchased back in the 70's. It was and still is a great rechargeable soldering iron but the battery is getting weak after 40 years. Yes, same battery for 40 years! While this little iron from Raitool is not rechargeable it does have some of the same features that I love about my ISO-Tip soldering iron. The lightweight Raitool iron heats up very quick and cools down almost as quick. It comes with a tiny support stand and when you set it down it quickly goes to stand-by mode and turns itself off. Get your finger within and inch or two of the metal sensor on the handle and it springs back to life ready to solder the next component on your circuit board. I'm running mine off a usb power strip that plugs into the wall but this thing would also work great with one of those backup battery packs designed to recharge your phone making it portable. If your trying to solder large wire connectors for your RC battery packs get a bigger iron that will run off your car battery.. If your trying to solder tiny camera leads to your flight controller or video transmitter then this is the iron you need.It won't over heat your circuit board components and the tip is small enough to solder those tiny soldering pads with ease. I built a DSO Shell oscilloscope kit with this iron and found it worked perfect for soldering the components to the circuit board.
