I thought that this would be a good first boat based on YouTube reviews, and was NOT disappointed! Shipping was faster than other purchases I made earlier in the year, arriving in 13 days It bound to the radio within a few seconds after turning the transmitter on (there is no switch on the boat). Didn't need any trim adjustments to run straight, turns very tight left or right, and runs like an arrow at half throttle in slightly choppy water. At full throttle it's quite lively, but can be kept straight with small steering corrections. I found the steering a little touchy, and didn't realize that you lose some control with the throttle off (did I mention that this is my first boat?). As a result, I put it into the weeds a couple of times at the beginningy., It ran fine after untangling the junk from the propeller, and backing the steering range knob off to about 75% made it easier to control at speed. I caught a wave the wrong way a couple of times, and it nosed under the water at full power like a submarine. I immediately lifted, and it bobbed back up to the surface after a couple of seconds. With all that brushless torque, a quick flick of reverse and then forward throttle is enough to right it effortlessly. Using part throttle and mixing in some slower cruising, I got well over the claimed 5-6 minute run time. However, continuous donuts at full throttle, eventually caused it to slow down. Not sure if the battery was just run down, or if a failsafe was being triggered to protect the ESC. No damage- it ran like a champ after a short cool-down. I prepped the boat by dabbing a little marine grease around the sealing area of the inner and outer lids. I also put some onto both ends of the prop shaft tube. This kept it pretty much water-tight. After running a full battery through it, there were only a few drops of water inside, which is good for this class of boat. Highly recommended.

steve_rolfeca Thereare 2 trim knobs on the transmitter. The lower one sets the throttle range, and backing it off to about 50% makes it much more controllable for new or younger users...

steve_rolfeca I'm also in Canada, current regulations allow products through with LiPo batteries. In this crazy post-COVID world, I was surprised to receive mine from the China warehouse in only 13 days.

steve_rolfeca The stock battery is supposed to be 103 x 30 x 15mm. As delivered in my boat, it was 109 x 33.5 x 22.5mm. The stock batteries are available under the Feilun brand. There is an Alien 2200mAh 50C which ought to fit, and would give both a little more punch and range. On choppy water, the boat would be more stable if it had a little less oomph. I'm thinking about the Gaoneng 2S 2200mAh 40C, which is shorter (allows you to move the battery forward or back to adjust the boat's balance).

steve_rolfeca Family issues have stalled my RC hobby in recent weeks. I installed a larger (80A brushed ESC and Flysky receiver and played around with them (useful performance improvements), but haven’t touched the car since. My Hobbywing brushless ESC and the two Racerstar motors are still waiting to be installed.
