There's no way it's 10x, but the 2-3x it is works well when doing fine soldering (I think 10x would not be as good for this purpose). The lens is of reasonable weight, but the arm stays where you put it. The lens quality is good, with no (noticeable) distortion. I think I'll be making a new base for my Strange Third Hand set up, because the base that comes with the 3 arms is not big or heavy enough.
