I am using this with a portable 20W solar panel to keep a car battery topped up. It is small and fits perfectly in the car glove compartment. So far so good in terms of performance. I used this model to replace a charge controller with bright LEDs since the LED power consumption creates an unnecessary drain on the battery when the panel is not charging it. The LCD dispay on this unit means that it has a low quiescent current. It would have been nice to have had a backlight via push button since the display cannot be easily read in dim lighting. The LCD display indicates when the panel is charging and also provides a readout of the battery voltage, which is useful.
