I have found this product works well when installed in the kitchen, hand washing and washing dishes. This is the 4th unit of this style that I have purchased. The first 2 units were of the US plug type (110 Volt) with a 3000 watt element. The US plug units do not last very long as the amperage is too large for the internal relay and failure of the relay occurs (within 4 to 8 months). Due to the high amperage of the US plug unit, the operation of the relay is very audible in order to open and close the contacts of the high amperage of the unit. Both of the first 2 units (US Plug) failed within a short time frame. The 3rd unit purchased was a EU plug (220 Volt) with 3800 Watt element. The EU plug was removed from the cable and replaced with a US plug (it is important to identify the color coding of the wires when doing this). The wall outlet was rewired from the existing 110 volt to a 220 volt wall outlet. The unit now operates at 220 Volt with a US plug that has been rewired for 220 Volt. The operation of the relay of the EU plug unit is not audible as it was with the US plug unit as the relay has half the amperage to control. Based on the operation of the EU plug unit (that has been modified for US plug - 220 volt operation), I purchased this 4th unit. I believe this unit will provide a longer service life than the US Plug units. Would buy this product (EU Plug - 220 volt) again if needed. Would not recommend buying the US plug -110 volt) version of this product, unless very limited use is anticipated.
