These photoelectric rotary sensors work very well. Nice, small and compact and as far as I can tell accurate enough. I particular like the fact that the connecting pins are on the back of the sensor module (i.e. on the opposite side from the actual optical sensor) which means they can be seated properly. When the pins are on the same side as the optical sensors (which seems all too common) you have trouble seating the sensors properly.
