These are pretty cool little devices. I had to solder the headers on and I messed that up a little but it should not be difficult for most people who know how to solder. I have mine set up so that I can program it via WIFI and I am using it with an LED dot matrix display. I can have the display in one part of he house and change the scrolling message wirelessly. I use it to ask my wife to bring me a beer, etc. The display is in the kitchen and when I want something I send my request to it. I used the "Daft Punk" example with demo turned off, Change the first text example to whatever you want it to say and upload it! I added over the air code (OTA) so that I can repeat the wireless access over and over. There are tutorials and examples to show how to do all of this. The board is small enough that it can hide behind the dot matrix LED display. I am very happy with this device. It was a little hard to get the OTA working right but it does work and I have been using it today over and over with no problem.
