Part came in a plastic bag with a bit of anti-static foam in place to protect the pins. As it turns out the display pins were a bit bent, but they straightened nicely and the board worked as expected. The part plugs into an Arduino Uno easily, and as the description says, there is a beeper (pro tip - keep the cover on it - it is loud!), 4 LEDs, 3 pushbutton switches, a battery backed real time clock (this one included a CR1220 battery), a temperature sensor (thermistor I think) and a light sensor (CdS photocell I think). There are tutorials available for Arduino sketches that run each individual portion of the board. Try searching for "Arduino open clock shield". I found the work of "tronixstuff" to be especially helpful. Not a bad way to brush up on your Arduino skills, and when you are done you have a nice nerdy thermometer clock!
