The tool knows which of the three different heads you have attached, and functions differently depending. The screwdriver head uses the arrow buttons for forward and reverse. The rotary tool turns on and off with the power button, and the arrow buttons vary the speed. The cutter is simple on/off. Everything seems to work very well. It comes with a good variety of bits for the rotary tool, with extras on the holders for the sanding drums, cutter disks, and polishing pads. I havent tested how strong the torque is, but it seems good enough.
