i like that it has detachable light source. that was the first thing i removed. also i removed the 10x smaller piece and used it as a small hand held magnifier.. for the price i'm happy with it.. only comment i would have is that the smaller magnifier be fixed using a nice metal washer and not just in the plastic.. But as you would not need it there's absolutely no reason why not to get this. i'm 40yr and have no glasses that is i see perfectly but this comes in handy..working on smaller things but also reading extreme small text on parts.. get it you won't regret it ..and you don't need more magnification then this provides.

Always been curious about these.....and finally decided to buy one, and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, not the best look (LOL!) but forget the Borg jokes from Star Trek fans and enjoy the freedom this device gives....I've tried illuminated magnifiers that sit on your desk and you peer through, but you have to bring the device to the magnifier. This gives overall much better flexibility, depending on use. If you're soldering, arguably the deskmount/goosenecked type is better as you don't want to get too close to a hot iron. Similarly consider other situations where it might be foolhardy to use these and have to get close to something like say an active drone with props spinning. But if you're fiddling with a watch battery installation or fiddling with motherboard connections in a PC, or wiring up an Arduino project, or hand-decorating a tiny object, or reviewing stamp/coin collections, this is the bees knees. The light gives a wide and soft illumination when you need it, and, unlike fixed and handheld magnifiers I've used, I've found it has a much quicker "eye adjustment" experience when looking and focusing on the object under observation. Weight-wise, it's quite comfortable on the head, and the battery pack for the LED lights can be removed to make it even lighter. The strap has a super easy adjustor and caters for larger heads (like mine, though I don't claim my brain is proportionally large!), and I like being able to swing the magnifier up so I can look with normal vision - just don't forget to take it off when you open the front door!! Also, I have reading glasses, and this device allows plenty of space if you are wearing similar. I like the option of removing the battery pack (excellent design) and the swing-down monocular uber-magnifier - the latter works fine too, though it's probably about about a third as magnifying as my old jeweler's magnifier - still handy to have, and hands-free. Should have got one of these decades ago......

3 magnification levels, i use all the time when working on my small quads or soldering pin headers. comfortable clear, minor distortion, acceptable distance from work at second level of magnification.
